Head of Software Engineering (Embedded Systems) Location: Kent (On-site)Salary: £95,000 - £100,000+ DOELead the transformation of a world-class engineering function. We're looking for an experienced software engineering leader to shape the future of embedded software development within a highly respected engineering and manufacturing business.This is far more than a traditional Head of Embedded Software role. You'll lead the evolution of engineering capability, driving modern software development practices while working closely with hardware, systems and product teams to deliver innovative embedded products.If you've successfully led engineering teams through organisational or technical transformation, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.The Role You'll be responsible for leading the embedded software function, developing engineering capability and delivering software across multiple product lines.Working alongside senior engineering leaders, you'll define technical direction, improve development processes and establish scalable engineering practices that improve product quality, predictability and speed of delivery.Responsibilities Lead and develop a high-performing embedded software engineering team.Define software strategy, architecture and technical direction.Deliver both new product development and sustaining engineering activities.Introduce modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automation and model-based development.Improve collaboration between software, hardware and systems engineering.Drive platform reuse and scalable software architecture.Define engineering KPIs and improve delivery performance.Lead technical reviews and engineering governance.Support organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives.About You You'll bring a combination of strong technical leadership and experience improving engineering organisations.We're particularly interested in people who have:Extensive embedded software development experience using C/C++.Experience leading software engineering teams.A strong understanding of embedded Linux and RTOS environments.Knowledge of software architecture and complex embedded systems.Experience with hardware/software integration.Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink or other model-based development environments.Experience implementing CI/CD, automated testing or DevOps practices.A track record of driving engineering or business transformation.What's on Offer Salary from £95,000 , with flexibility beyond £100,000 for candidates who can demonstrate significant engineering transformation experience.Opportunity to shape engineering strategy across a growing product portfolio.High level of influence within the engineering leadership team.Long-term career progression.Comprehensive benefits package.TPBN1_UKTJ
