Teaching AssistantLocation: Lewisham, South East LondonStart Date: ASAP / September 2026Contract Type: Full-TimeSalary: Dependent on experienceThe Role We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Lewisham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for all pupils.Key Responsibilities Support pupils with their learning both individually and in small groups.Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.Support the social, emotional, and academic development of students.Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials.Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate.Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.Essential Requirements Previous experience working with children or young people.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.A positive, proactive, and flexible approach.Good behaviour management skills.Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.A genuine passion for supporting children's education and development.Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Desirable Skills and Experience Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or similar role.Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH, or additional learning needs.Experience working in a primary, secondary, SEN, or alternative provision setting.Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or youth work.What the School Offers A supportive and welcoming school environment in Lewisham.Friendly and collaborative staff.Opportunities for training and professional development.A dedicated leadership team committed to staff wellbeing.The opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references in line with safer recruitment practices.TPBN1_UKTJ
