Civil Design EngineerLocation: Central London (near Old Street)Salary: £35,000 - £45,000Type: Full-Time, PermanentAn award-winning, design-led structural and civil engineering consultancy in Central London is looking to appoint a Civil Design Engineer with a strong focus on drainage design to join its growing infrastructure team.This is an opportunity to join one of London's most dynamic and creative consultancies - a practice that places innovation, sustainability and collaboration at the centre of every project.The OpportunityYou'll join a well-established infrastructure team of around 20 engineers within a wider 160+ person practice. The office environment is modern, open-plan and purpose-designed, located just moments from Old Street Station.The consultancy works on high-profile, design-driven schemes including:High-rise and architecturally ambitious residential developmentsModern commercial and retail buildingsEducation, arts and cultural institutionsPublic realm and regeneration projectsThis role places particular emphasis on drainage strategy and detailed drainage design, supporting complex urban developments from early concept stage through to delivery.You'll work closely with structural engineers and architects, contributing technical expertise that directly influences creative and sustainable design outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesPreparation of surface water and foul drainage strategiesDetailed drainage design using MicroDrainage (or similar)Coordination of below-ground infrastructure within multidisciplinary design teamsSupporting highways and external works designLiaison with local authorities and statutory bodiesContributing to sustainable drainage (SuDS) solutions in dense urban environmentsAbout YouExperience in drainage and highway design within a consultancy environmentProficiency in MicroDrainage and Civil 3D (or similar software)Passion for high-quality, collaborative designProactive, accountable and eager to take responsibilityAmbition to achieve Chartership (full support provided)Why Join?26 days holiday (including 3 additional days over Christmas)Performance bonus of up to 8% (company and individual based)Flexible and hybrid workingPension schemeGenerous maternity and paternity leaveSubsidised gym membershipAnnual company-wide trip abroadStrong Chartership support and structured developmentThe business recently became an Employee-Owned Trust, meaning employees have a genuine voice in the company's direction.
