Location: ScotlandWorking pattern: Full-timeAbout the roleThis is a solid opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to join a busy outsourced accounting team, taking ownership of day-to-day financial records across a portfolio of clients. You'll be the transactional foundation that client reporting and VAT submissions depend on working to high standards of accuracy, keeping records audit-ready, and maintaining strong working relationships with clients at an operational level.What you'll be doingMaintaining accurate bookkeeping records across a client portfolio using cloud-based accounting platforms, ensuring transactions are correctly coded and reconciled on timeProcessing supplier invoices, expenses, and bank transactions, and resolving queries with clients or the Assistant Manager where neededPerforming bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies in line with agreed deadlines and quality standardsPreparing and submitting VAT returns under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, ensuring accuracy and HMRC complianceMaintaining organised client records within Karbon and the firm's document management systems, keeping all files audit-ready at all timesFlagging errors, anomalies, or unusual transactions to the Assistant Manager promptly with appropriate supporting notesLiaising with clients professionally to gather information, resolve queries, and maintain positive working relationshipsContributing to the continuous improvement of bookkeeping workflows and client onboarding processesWhat you'll bringMinimum five years' experience in a bookkeeping, accounts assistant, or similar finance support roleSolid working knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT principlesFamiliarity with Xero and/or other cloud-based platforms such as Sage 50 or QuickBooksCompetence in Microsoft Excel for data checking and reconciliation workGood understanding of bank reconciliation processes and accounts payable/receivableGCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C/4 or aboveA methodical, detail-focused approach with the ability to manage a varied workload to deadlineClear and professional communication skills for client-facing workDesirableExperience using Dext or similar document capture toolsPrior experience in a practice or outsourced finance environmentAAT Level 2 completed, or currently studying towards AAT Level 3Bookkeeping qualification such as ICBWhat's on offerA varied, client-facing role within a supportive outsourced accounting teamExposure to a broad portfolio of clients across different sectorsA stable, structured environment with clear processes and ongoing development opportunitiesAdditional informationWe are committed to building an inclusive team and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.You may have experience of the following: Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Junior Accountant, Accounts Payable Assistant, Cloud Bookkeeper, Xero Bookkeeper, Payroll and Bookkeeping Assistant, Practice Bookkeeper, Outsourced BookkeeperREF-229 579TPBN1_UKTJ
