Our client is looking for an RTB & Specialist Training Engineer to play a key role in ensuring critical medical equipment is safely returned, refurbished, maintained, and redeployed while also helping to develop the next generation of biomedical engineers through hands-on technical training. This is an exciting opportunity to combine engineering expertise with coaching, process improvement, and customer engagement within a growing healthcare technology organisation.The RoleReporting to the RTB Lead, you'll take ownership of the Return to Base (RTB) process for a wide range of medical devices, ensuring every piece of equipment meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance before being returned to service.Alongside your engineering responsibilities, you'll help deliver technical training, mentor engineers, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery across the business.No two days are the same-you'll be involved in technical problem solving, equipment refurbishment, training delivery, quality assurance, and collaborating with hospitals, OEMs, logistics teams, and internal departments.What You'll Be DoingManage the complete Return to Base (RTB) lifecycle of medical devicesInspect, diagnose, repair, calibrate and refurbish medical equipmentEnsure compliance with MHRA, ISO 13485 and HTM standardsDeliver hands-on technical training to biomedical engineers and techniciansMentor junior engineers and support workforce developmentProvide technical support to customers and internal teamsMaintain CMMS records and asset trackingSupport quality assurance and preventative maintenance programmesAnalyse engineering data to identify service improvementsSupport Lean initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce equipment downtimeWork closely with hospitals, OEMs, logistics and operational teamsContribute to KPI reporting and continuous service improvementWhat we are looking for:You'll be an experienced Biomedical or Clinical Engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges while also helping others develop their skills.You'll be confident communicating with customers, colleagues, and clinical users, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally.Essential RequirementsHNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Biomedical EngineeringMinimum 5 years' experience servicing medical devices within the UKStrong knowledge of medical equipment such as:Patient MonitoringInfusion DevicesDiagnostic EquipmentExperience with CMMS or asset management systemsAbility to interpret technical manuals and fault-find effectivelyExperience delivering technical training or coaching colleaguesExcellent communication and customer service skillsFull UK Driving LicenceRight to work in the UKDesirableBiomedical Engineering qualificationOEM manufacturer certificationsExperience managing RTB or refurbishment processesKnowledge of Lean or continuous improvement methodologiesYou'll help deliver:Reduced equipment downtimeFaster RTB turnaround timesExcellent compliance with SLA and KPI targetsHighly competent engineering teamsSafe, compliant medical equipment ready for patient useLocation & TravelSite-based in HarlowTravel between customer sites when requiredOccasional overnight stays for training deliveryEnhanced DBS check requiredTPBN1_UKTJ
