This full-time, contract position begins in September and continues through December, providing essential coverage for a maternity leave. Located near New Britain, CT, you’ll engage with a dynamic high school caseload using resource-setting and co-teaching models, supporting students in achieving their fullest potential.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Special Education Teacher certification (appropriate for high school)
  • Recent experience teaching or supporting high school students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Energetic, adaptable, and able to create engaging, inclusive learning environments

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to high school students, individually and in groups, within a resource room and co-teaching settings
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials based on students’ IEPs to address their unique academic and behavioral needs
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to plan and co-deliver lessons in inclusive classroom settings
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams regarding student progress
  • Document service delivery and maintain thorough records in compliance with district and state guidelines
  • Support students in developing academic, social, and self-advocacy skills
