Incredible opportunity awaits skilled Special Education Teachers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of elementary and middle school students. This contract position offers the chance to work in a supportive, collaborative environment near Morganton, NC, focusing on individualized learning and student growth.
You’ll play a pivotal role in two distinct classroom settings. The elementary class has just six students with mild needs, supported by an experienced teaching assistant and a dedicated behavior technician. The middle school class, comprised of eleven students, includes one student with a feeding tube while the rest present mild behavioral needs. Three full-time teaching assistants, one additional teacher, and a 1:1 support staff ensure students—and you—receive continuous support.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education licensure (or eligibility) in North Carolina
- Previous experience teaching in special education settings preferred
- Comfortable assisting with toileting (no feeding required in elementary, minimal feeding assistance in middle school)
- Strong commitment to inclusive and individualized education
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement lesson plans that address diverse learning styles and abilities
- Foster a positive, safe, and respectful classroom climate
- Provide personal care support for toileting as needed
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, behavior technicians, and related service providers
- Track and report student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
- Maintain effective communication with parents and school staff
