Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives by providing essential support as a contract special education teacher in an elementary setting. In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate closely with a dedicated team of educators—being one of three special education teachers in a nurturing school community. The position focuses on extended resource/self-contained instruction for K4-5th grade students, where you’ll foster growth and academic achievement for learners with diverse needs.

Your caseload will consist of approximately 8-12 students, some in your classroom full-day, and others joining you for targeted instruction in ELA and/or math. You’ll have the support of an experienced assistant, and you’ll collaborate with the inclusion/resource and transition teams. Your work will be vital in creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for students with exceptional needs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Experience with elementary-aged students and a variety of learning needs
  • Previous work in self-contained or extended resource environments preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to create, implement, and modify Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
  • Commitment to collaborative teaching and open communication with staff and families
  • Flexibility and compassion in adapting to students’ unique learning styles

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and adapt instruction to meet each student’s IEP goals
  • Provide both whole-group and individualized support in academics, behavior, and life skills
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and service providers
  • Supervise and guide an instructional assistant
  • Maintain documentation and participate in IEP meetings
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate

The assignment runs from July 17 to June 2, aligning with the full school year and allowing you to fully engage with your students and school community.
