Job Description
Step into an impactful role supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher for a maternity leave assignment starting this September and continuing through December. This contract position offers the opportunity to work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, in a collaborative and resourceful environment dedicated to student growth.
As a vital member of the high school team, you’ll engage in a resource and co-teaching setting, providing targeted support for diverse learners while fostering independence and academic achievement. Your expertise will contribute directly to helping students succeed in their academic and social goals during a key transitional period.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility for certification).
- Experience working at the high school level is strongly preferred.
- Background in resource settings or co-teaching models, with demonstrated ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
- Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs to meet individual student goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction in a resource/co-teaching model.
- Adapt and modify lessons to address various student needs and learning styles.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to create effective strategies.
- Develop and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Track student progress and communicate regularly with families and team members.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a supportive, professional community.
