Your assignments will include working with small caseloads in both elementary and middle school settings. In the elementary classroom, you’ll guide six students with mild needs and provide hands-on support, including toileting assistance as needed, with the help of an experienced teaching assistant and a dedicated behavior technician. The middle school classroom serves eleven students, most with mild needs and one requiring a feeding tube. Additional help comes from a team of three full-time teaching assistants and a 1:1 aide for focused support, allowing you to concentrate on impactful instruction.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Special Education teaching certification
- Experience or strong interest in both elementary and middle school populations
- Understanding of best practices for students with mild behavioral needs and medical considerations
- Comfort with providing toileting assistance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and behavior support staff
- Dedication to supporting inclusive learning experiences and diverse needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and safe classroom atmosphere
- Adapt instruction to address a variety of learning and developmental levels
- Collaborate closely with classroom aides for effective student support
- Maintain clear, timely communication with families and the multidisciplinary team
