Step into a rewarding role supporting students with moderate to severe needs in a high school environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact as you work with a small caseload of 9 students in a specialized academic setting. The assignment spans the entire school year, from August to early June, with regular hours from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Moderate/Severe Authorization (moderate/severe credential required; mild/moderate credentials not accepted)
  • Experience working in a Special Day Class (SDC) or ESN (Extensive Support Needs) environment is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of instructional strategies and behavioral supports for students with significant disabilities
  • Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with families, paraprofessionals, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering academic, functional, and social growth for each student

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver curriculum adapted for high school students (grades 9-12) with extensive support needs
  • Manage a classroom of 9 students, ensuring a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
  • Collaborate closely with support staff, therapists, and administrators
  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust classroom strategies based on data and observation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation
  • Engage with families to support student learning and well-being throughout the school year
