Position Overview and QualificationsIn the role of RN Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator, you will be responsible for implementing injury-prevention strategies within the Trauma Program, utilizing data, community assessments, and evidence-based practices to create initiatives that promote safety and well-being. You will foster valuable relationships with EMS, public health entities, educational institutions, hospitals, and community organizations to advance prevention efforts that align with our mission to enhance lives in diverse ways. Your expertise in outreach, education, research, and program development will be essential in meeting Trauma Center verification standards while broadening access to injury-prevention information throughout the region.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Creating and implementing focused injury-prevention initiatives based on Trauma Registry data, community assessments, and performance improvement metrics.
- Establishing and maintaining collaborations with EMS agencies, public health officials, regional trauma coordinators, and community organizations to promote injury-prevention activities.
- Directing and assessing educational outreach for nurses, EMS personnel, referring facilities, and high-risk groups, ensuring compliance with ACS standards and Trauma Center verification criteria.
- Interpreting and applying trauma research, data trends, and national guidelines into actionable prevention strategies, mental health screening programs, and evidence-based interventions.
- Coordinating and communicating prevention priorities among internal and external stakeholders—including surgeons, trauma leaders, committee members, marketing, and public affairs—to enhance awareness and community involvement.
- Tracking and documenting adherence to ACS, state, and local trauma-designation standards while evaluating the impact and effectiveness of injury-prevention programs.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course completion
- Trauma Nursing Core Course completion
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
