Position: Special Education Teacher – Moderate/Severe Disabilities (MSD)
Location: Elkton, Kentucky
Assignment Dates: August 4, 2026 – May 17, 2027
Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 Hours per Week
Grade Level: Elementary

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in Moderate/Severe Disabilities (MSD) to support elementary students in Elkton, KY for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with significant support needs and a passion for creating an individualized, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Classroom Details

  • Elementary-level MSD classroom
  • Caseload of approximately 7 students
  • Focus on individualized instruction and support for students with moderate to severe disabilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEP goals.
  • Provide academic, functional, and life skills instruction based on student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate IEP documentation.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies to support communication, behavior, independence, and learning.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, families, and school staff.
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student growth.

Qualifications

  • Valid Kentucky Special Education Certification with Moderate/Severe Disabilities (MSD) credentials required.
  • Previous experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities required.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, adaptive instruction, and individualized supports.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
