Department Overview

We are seeking a temporary Pharmacist to join our team, focusing on complex pharmacy initiatives across various locations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Examine prescriptions for accuracy, determine necessary ingredients, and assess their appropriateness.
  • Provide guidance on drug interactions, side effects, dosages, and proper medication storage.
  • In a retail or community pharmacy context, interpret and dispense both prescription and over-the-counter medications to patients.
  • Address prescription-related issues and offer advice to healthcare providers regarding medication selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects.
  • Counsel patients on their prescriptions, covering administration, potential side effects, expected outcomes, storage, and any inquiries they may have.
  • Monitor patient health and progress in relation to drug therapy.
  • Adapt to and utilize new technologies as the pharmacy profession evolves.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff and support personnel.
  • In a medical center or institutional environment, review provider orders, offer drug information, assist in problem-solving, and deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care.
  • Perform unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, outpatient prescriptions, navigate electronic medical records, compound medications, and manage automated dispensing devices.
  • Utilize age-specific patient information to evaluate pharmaceutical needs across various age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Adhere to all regulations and standards governing pharmacy practice.
  • May serve as a shift supervisor under the guidance of department managers.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • For retail/community pharmacy: Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with comprehensive knowledge of drugs and their effects, as well as familiarity with state and local regulations.
  • For medical center or institutional pharmacy: Must also be a graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with similar knowledge and experience; hospital experience or residency is preferred.
  • Must hold a valid license in good standing from the State Board of Pharmacy in the relevant state(s) and/or possess multi-state licensure as required for the position.
