Special Education Teacher - Pioneer, Tennessee

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of middle school students as a contracted Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide academic interventions in reading and math, while also collaborating as a co-teacher in general education classrooms. Your work will center on fostering an inclusive environment and supporting students with Specific Learning Disabilities, Other Health Impairments, and Language Impairments. The caseload varies based on staffing, typically ranging from 12–22 students, offering you the opportunity to deliver tailored instruction and make deep connections.

Qualifications:

• Valid Tennessee Special Education Teaching Certification (open to 144, 145, 461)
• Strong background in delivering academic interventions and supporting diverse learners
• Experience with middle school-age students preferred
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to adapt instruction for varying needs and create supportive classroom environments

Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted interventions in reading and math to students with identified disabilities
• Co-teach alongside general education teachers, ensuring all students can access the curriculum
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Maintain detailed progress records and participate in team meetings and IEP conferences
• Foster a culture of inclusivity and respect for all learners

Your contract will begin as soon as possible or at the start of the school year in early August and run through late May. The schedule includes 37.5 hours per week, five days a week.
