This Manufacturing Carpenter position is ideal for someone with woodshop or carpentry experience who can accurately read blueprints, follow precise measurements, and perform physical production work. In this role, you will build custom wooden crating solutions used to safely secure steel coils and other materials during transportation.

What you'll do:

  • Fabricate custom wood crating solutions for steel coils and materials
  • Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings daily
  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials with a zero margin of error
  • Ensure a precise and secure fit to prevent shifting during transit
  • Select proper lumber and materials based on weight and load requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • Recent Experience: At least 2 to 3 years of recent carpentry, woodshop, manufacturing, construction, or production experience is required.
  • Blueprint Reading: Read and follow blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and detailed instructions.
  • Measurement Skills: Accurately read a tape measure and use precision tools such as calipers, levels, and squares.
  • Wood Crate Fabrication: Measure, cut, assemble, and secure custom wooden crates for steel coils and other materials.
  • Material Selection: Select the proper lumber and building materials based on the size, weight, and load requirements.
  • Carpentry Tools: Safely operate saws, nail guns, drills, hammers, and other woodshop tools.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed crates to ensure accurate measurements, secure construction, and a proper fit.
  • Production Support: Assist with lifting, moving, sorting, and organizing lumber, steel materials, and finished products.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to repeatedly lift and move up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
  • Standing Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Must be able to remain productive and accurate while working in a busy manufacturing setting.
  • Hot Work Environment: Must be comfortable working in a warm production environment.
  • Self-Sufficient: Must stay on task, follow instructions, and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Team Oriented: Must work well with others and support daily production and safety goals.
  • Attendance and Punctuality: Must maintain dependable attendance and report to every scheduled shift on time.
  • Reliable Transportation: Must have dependable transportation to and from work.
  • Safety Requirements: Follow all workplace safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required.
