Ideal Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist) endorsement
  • Previous experience teaching special education at the elementary or middle school level preferred
  • Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices
  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with families, general education teachers, and support staff
  • Compassion, flexibility, and strong classroom management abilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction for students in grades 3-5 with diverse learning needs
  • Write, update, and maintain students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor progress toward goals
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to adapt lessons and materials for accessibility
  • Employ positive behavioral interventions and supports to cultivate a nurturing classroom environment
  • Consult regularly with parents, general educators, therapists, and administrators to coordinate services
  • Document student progress, complete required reports, and participate in IEP meetings
