Special Education Teacher - Crete, Illinois
Job Description
Make a meaningful impact working with elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school environment. This contract position is available immediately and offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, totaling 37.5 hours per week. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team, working directly with elementary-aged children to help them achieve their individual educational and developmental goals.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree is required
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) and LBS1 endorsement
- Previous experience working in schools, preferably with elementary students
- Strong knowledge of special education practices and compliance
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student strengths and needs
- Provide direct instructional support to students in a resource and/or inclusive classroom setting
- Monitor student progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed
- Work closely with fellow teachers, service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Maintain accurate and timely student records in accordance with program and legal requirements
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
