School-Based Physical Therapist (PT)

Location: Durham, NC
Position Type: Full-Time | Contract | School Year

Position Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students to determine eligibility for physical therapy services.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with students' educational goals.
  • Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services in accordance with IEPs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, and families.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment, positioning, mobility devices, and environmental modifications.
  • Document services, maintain accurate records, complete progress reports, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Educate school personnel and caregivers on strategies that promote student success across educational settings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active North Carolina Physical Therapist license (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
