Genesis10 is seeking a DevOps Engineer for a contract position with a financial services client located in New York, NY. This is a hybrid position and requires being onsite 3 days per week. Summary: We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with hands-on, production-level experience designing, securing, and operating enterprise CI/CD pipelines for modern cloud-based applications. This role requires far more than GitLab source control experience—you will own automated software delivery pipelines, implement governance and security best practices, and enable reliable deployments across multiple application stacks and cloud environments. The ideal candidate has a strong background in GitLab CI/CD, cloud-native application deployments, container technologies, Azure, DevSecOps, and infrastructure automation, with experience supporting enterprise software delivery at scale. Key Responsibilities: GitLab CI/CD Engineering Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot multi-stage GitLab CI/CD pipelines using .gitlab-ci.yml Configure and manage GitLab runners, artifacts, caching, CI/CD variables, deployment environments, approvals, and deployment gates. Develop reusable pipeline templates, shared components, include files, and parent/child pipelines to standardize delivery across teams. Implement GitLab governance, including branching strategies, merge request workflows, CODEOWNERS, protected branches/tags, merge trains, and approval rules. Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, reliability, observability, and maintainability. Integrate automated testing, security scanning, dependency scanning, secret detection, container scanning, and policy-based quality gates into delivery pipelines. Application Build & Deployment Build, test, package, and deploy enterprise applications across one or more of the following technology stacks: .NET / C# Java Python Node.js / JavaScript / TypeScript Candidates should understand the unique CI/CD requirements of each platform, including dependency management, build optimization, testing frameworks, artifact creation, security scanning, containerization, and deployment strategies. Cloud & Container Deployment Deploy and manage containerized applications through GitLab CI/CD into Azure-based environments. Build, tag, scan, and publish Docker container images using Azure Container Registry (ACR) or comparable cloud registries. Configure deployment workflows across Development, Test, UAT, and Production environments with approvals, promotions, rollback strategies, and health validation. Manage Docker images, networking, runtime configuration, logging, monitoring, and release processes. Integrate Infrastructure-as-Code solutions such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, or CloudFormation into CI/CD pipelines. Azure & AWS Cloud Technologies Support cloud-native deployments using foundational Azure and AWS services. Azure Azure Container Registry (ACR) Azure Key Vault Microsoft Entra ID Azure RBAC Azure Storage Azure Monitor Virtual Networks Resource Groups Service Principals and Managed Identities AWS EC2 IAM VPC S3 CloudWatch ECR ECS Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) / Golden Images Secrets Management & Identity Integrate Azure Key Vault into CI/CD workflows for secure management of secrets, certificates, API keys, and connection strings. Implement secure credential management using masked GitLab variables, environment isolation, least-privilege access, and credential rotation. Configure GitLab authentication to Azure using Service Principals, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, and secure identity practices. Experience with Workload Identity Federation/OpenID Connect (OIDC) is a plus. AI-Assisted Engineering Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or comparable solutions to improve development, testing, documentation, debugging, and code quality. Ensure AI tools are used responsibly within enterprise governance standards while maintaining human oversight, secure coding practices, and protection of proprietary code and sensitive information. DevSecOps & Enterprise Governance Support enterprise release governance, auditability, access controls, and separation-of-duties requirements. Collaborate with software engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and security teams to establish scalable CI/CD standards and improve developer productivity. Champion DevSecOps best practices across the software development lifecycle. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience designing and supporting enterprise CI/CD pipelines. Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD in production environments. Experience creating reusable GitLab pipeline templates and deployment automation. Experience deploying containerized applications using Docker and Azure container services. Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services, identity, networking, monitoring, and security. Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and container deployment concepts. Experience integrating Infrastructure-as-Code into CI/CD pipelines. Solid understanding of DevSecOps principles, automated testing, and application security. Experience implementing secure secrets management and identity integration. Strong troubleshooting, automation, and scripting skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting enterprise financial services or other highly regulated environments. Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Kubernetes, or other container orchestration platforms. Experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, or CloudFormation. Familiarity with OpenID Connect (OIDC) and Workload Identity Federation. Experience using AI-assisted developer tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar enterprise AI coding platforms. Experience driving CI/CD standardization and platform engineering initiatives across multiple development teams.
