Our organization is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our mission-driven team at the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center, located at 3800 Park Avenue. This role is focused on assisting individuals with developmental disabilities to enhance their independence and overall quality of life. The position operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Job Overview:

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate and provide treatment for patients facing physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' capabilities to perform daily living skills independently and create tailored care plans, specifying treatment types and frequencies.
  • Execute treatment plans utilizing suitable modalities, document patient progress, and adjust care plans as necessary while seeking consultations when required.
  • Inform patients and their families or caregivers about identified deficits and assist with discharge planning, including guidance on adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Supervise care provided by designated personnel in accordance with established regulations and professional standards.
  • Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education:
  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field, as required for state licensure.
Experience:
  • No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
  • Regularly use hearing and speech for effective communication.
  • Frequently distinguish body sounds and respond to alarms or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Regularly utilize vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Engage in frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
  • Occasionally lift or move patients and handle objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally drive and use vision to assess distances and identify colors.
  • Rarely required to crawl.
Licensure and Certifications:

Resuscitation Certification: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.

  • Illinois: Occupational Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Missouri: Occupational Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Oklahoma: Occupational Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board
  • Wisconsin: Occupational Therapist - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
