Patient Advocate RepresentativePosition Summary

We are seeking an experienced Patient Advocate Representative to serve as a key liaison between patients and the billing department. This role is responsible for assisting patients with account balances, payment arrangements, billing questions, and account resolution while maintaining exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with Net Health or NextGen EMR systems, strong medical billing knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Account & Billing Support
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding medical bills, account balances, payment options, and billing statements.
  • Assist patients in understanding Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), insurance payments, and account activity.
  • Resolve billing concerns by researching account discrepancies and identifying appropriate solutions.
  • Educate patients on billing processes and financial responsibilities while maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and assist patients with balance resolution.
Account Review & Resolution
  • Review patient accounts for accuracy, including duplicate payments, posting errors, adjustments, and corrections.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable and other departments to resolve account issues and ensure timely updates.
  • Monitor high-balance and delinquent accounts, proactively contacting patients or responsible parties regarding payment options.
  • Complete correction requests and maintain documentation related to account updates.
EMR & Administrative Support
  • Respond to patient communications through email and internal EMR messaging systems.
  • Utilize Net Health or NextGen software to access patient information and account details.
  • Manage multiple systems simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
  • Read, print, and review patient documentation as needed.
Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
  • Maintain established productivity, quality, and audit metrics.
  • Accurately document all patient interactions and account activity.
  • Participate in assigned projects and meet established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex account and billing issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Direct experience with Net Health or NextGen EMR systems (current or within the last 7 years).
  • Experience in healthcare customer service, patient advocacy, medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle operations.
  • Strong understanding of patient accounts, billing statements, and payment processing.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of patient interactions while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with hospital billing or healthcare revenue cycle operations.
  • Knowledge of insurance claim processing and denial management.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
  • Experience working with clearinghouse platforms and healthcare billing systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
