Job Description
An exciting role is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a difference in the lives of students within a K-8th classroom serving children with multiple disabilities. This position offers the unique opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team of five paraprofessionals and a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide essential support and individualized instruction. You’ll be working with a small group of nine students, allowing for tailored approaches and meaningful connections.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
- Current certification or licensure as a Special Education Teacher.
- Experience working in a K-8 environment, particularly with students who have multiple disabilities.
- Strong collaboration skills for working with support staff, including paraprofessionals and clinical professionals.
- Ability to adapt curriculum and implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other team members.
- Differentiate instruction to ensure each student receives appropriate learning opportunities.
- Work alongside paraprofessionals and the LPN to create a safe, nurturing, and effective classroom setting.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as needed.
- Engage with families, providing regular updates and involving them in the educational process.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state and federal regulations for special education.
The weekly schedule runs Tuesday through Friday from 6:30am to 3:30pm, with one extended Thursday each week until 4:30pm, offering consistent routines and focused instructional time. This is a chance to truly impact a small group of learners with the support you need to succeed.
