Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract position as a Special Education Teacher serving high school students in a dedicated ESN (moderate/severe) program. This impactful opportunity runs from August 6 through June 3, with a schedule of 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You’ll have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of 9 students, all enrolled in the high school’s ESN program, providing specialized instruction tailored to their individual needs.
Ideal candidates bring expertise in special education for students with moderate to severe needs, and hold a valid California teaching credential for moderate/severe special education—mild/moderate credentials do not qualify for this position.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active California Education Specialist (moderate/severe) Credential required
- Previous experience working with high school aged students preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Dedication to inclusive learning environments
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Comfortable collaborating with families, related service providers, and school staff
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver specialized academic instruction for 9 students in a small classroom setting
- Assess students’ abilities and create tailored IEPs
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to address academic, communication, behavioral, and social needs
- Foster a positive, structured, and engaging learning atmosphere
- Collaborate with administrators, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Maintain up-to-date records and compliance documentation
- Support family communication and engagement in student progress
