Overview

Position Title: Family Medicine Physician

Location: Fort Riley, Kansas

This role is part of a Direct Hire initiative, allowing for potential salary negotiations for candidates who are entering Federal service for the first time. Federal civilian healthcare providers are not required to carry medical malpractice liability insurance, as they are protected under the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while performing their job duties.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to hospital policies and regulations while facilitating patient access to appropriate medical care and referrals to other healthcare providers.
• Deliver direct patient care within a Medical Treatment Facility.
• Provide consultative opinions to fellow physicians and healthcare personnel, supervising care provided by non-physicians.
• Maintain health and clinical records in compliance with current regulations and standards.
• Determine when to seek additional advice and guidance.
• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Eligibility: Open to U.S. Citizens

To qualify, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Experience encompasses both paid and unpaid roles, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, social). All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be considered. Your resume should clearly detail your relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirements for Family Practice Physician:

Degree: Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must be recognized by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or another accrediting body acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education at the time of graduation. For degrees obtained from foreign medical schools, candidates must demonstrate that their education and medical knowledge are equivalent to accredited U.S. institutions, evidenced by permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the U.S. and graduate education abroad, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Licensure:

Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Graduate Training:

After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.

Residency Training:

Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Family Medicine, along with equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the residency training mandated for this specialty.
