Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is responsible for performing both routine and advanced laboratory tests in areas such as toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology, which are essential for diagnosing and treating diseases. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct chemical, bacteriological, serological, and microscopic tests in various laboratory sections.
• Ensure accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood banking, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and other specified areas.
• Maintain quality assurance by running standards and controls, calibrating equipment according to approved procedures, performing routine maintenance, and monitoring quality control protocols.

Qualifications Required:

• A Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or a related field is required, or be “Grandfathered” as a medical technologist under CLIA 88.
• Certification as MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLS (ASCP), or relevant certifications such as BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I(ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) is required, or be eligible for registry/certification.
• Registry/certification must be achieved within one year of employment.
• Previous experience is preferred.
