Position Summary

The Resident Services Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) plays a vital role in assisting the Resident Services Director with the effective implementation, delivery, and coordination of Resident Care Services within the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Resident Services Department staff, including Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.s).
  • Assist in managing the medication program and support residents in self-administering their medications.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, their families, and healthcare providers.
  • Report any significant incidents or changes in residents' needs to the Executive Director or Resident Services Director.
  • Assist in completing resident assessments and developing service plans.
  • Support clinical assessments and recertifications in accordance with ALSA requirements.
  • Help the Resident Services Director with hiring and performance management within the department.
  • Participate in training and orientation for new staff members.
  • Attend scheduled in-service training programs and team meetings.
  • Assist with the scheduling and staffing of Resident Services Assistants as necessary.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to staff in the Resident Services Department.
  • Support residents and their families to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
  • Supervise RSA staff during care provision.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to emergency procedures.
  • Understand and implement safety practices and protocols.
Communication
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, peers, and other staff members.
  • Encourage a supportive work environment.
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the relevant state(s).
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Preferred experience in assisted living or long-term care settings.
  • Experience or a special interest in working with seniors.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be in good physical and emotional health, free from communicable diseases.
  • Able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods.
  • Able to transfer residents and operate a Hoyer Lift and other medical equipment when necessary.
Miscellaneous
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • May need to work shifts other than the one assigned.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Potential exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
  • May encounter residents who are hostile or emotionally distressed due to their mental state.
