Job Description
Step into an impactful role supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher for an ESN (Extensive Support Needs) classroom. This contract opportunity runs from August 6 through June 3, with hours from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The classroom serves nine students with moderate to severe support needs, providing a rewarding environment where specialized instruction makes a daily difference.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California Special Education Teaching Credential with moderate/severe authorization (mild/moderate not accepted)
- Experience working with high school students (grades 9-12), especially those in ESN settings
- Thorough knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement compliant, student-centered programs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and team members
- Ability to adapt instructional methods and behavioral supports to meet diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students with significant support needs within a small classroom setting
- Collaborate with related service providers and paraprofessionals to ensure comprehensive student support
- Develop, monitor, and document progress on IEP goals in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Foster a positive, student-centered classroom culture that emphasizes safety, growth, and participation
- Communicate regularly with families and interdisciplinary teams regarding student progress and classroom activities
