Special Education Teacher in Aurora, CO

What You’ll Bring:

• Valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (ages 5-21) endorsement
• Experience in mild/moderate or severe special education settings, including structured classrooms for students with cognitive and behavioral disabilities
• Familiarity with CPI, ABA principles, and various de-escalation and behavioral strategies (for select positions)
• Autism experience is strongly preferred; background with FBA, BIP, and supporting students with severe affective or cognitive needs is highly valued
• Ability to lead a team of paraprofessionals and collaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, psychology)
• Record of completing required credentialing paperwork in a timely manner

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and individualized support for elementary students across mild/moderate or severe needs environments
• Develop and implement effective IEPs and data-driven interventions tailored to each student’s needs
• Foster an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom climate
• Collaborate closely with school staff, specialized service providers, and families
• Oversee and mentor paraprofessional team members as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance and track student progress
