24- month renewable contract in El Segundo, CA.

NOTE: US Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.

Clearance is not required to start BUT candidate MUST be clearable.

Ability to OBTAIN a Secret Clearance is Required

Chipton-Ross is seeking an Aeronautical Engineer 3 for a contract opportunity in El Segundo, CA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

o Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience, or 6 years of experience with a Master's degree, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience.

o Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.

o Must be a U.S. citizen.

o Comfortable with electrical and/or power-systems design, electrical analysis, cable-harness design, and/or distribution boxes.

o Knowledgeable with line loss, derating, bent pin, power load, and/or signal/power integrity analysis.

o Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

o Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, and presenting design concepts to stakeholders.

o Comfortable with understanding industry codes, standards, specifications, and mil-specs.

o Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).

o Experience with computer hardware and embedded operating systems.

o Familiarity with software architecture.

o Experience performing system-level design/troubleshooting.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Looking for an Engineer Aeronautical 3 to support our F/A-18 department in El Segundo, CA.

F/A-18 Design Engineering team is seeking an experienced electrical systems Engineer to support electrical, avionics, and subsystems requests.


The role is dynamic as members of the team handle a broad range of activities across multiple phases of the program to include production, post-production, and operational support.

Responsibilities include:

o Provide support for production, post-production, and field issues.

o Support investigations, system testing, flight test, and lab environments.

o Supports avionics and electrical wire harness installation and troubleshooting.

o Support proposal development, technical planning, verification & validation, cost & risk analysis, and trade studies.

o Support root cause correction action processes.

o Provide timely and efficient engineering support within program budget and schedule constraints.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

o Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings.

o Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

o Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

o Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design/analysis and other integration teams.

o Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.

o Support electrical wire harness designs.

o Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs)/Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and take them through the full review and release process.

o Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies.

o May perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.

o Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.

o Demonstrate leadership principles - Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

o Prior F/A-18 A-D and E/F/G experience.

o Systems Engineering experience on fighter aircrafts.

o Fighter aircraft experience performing system-level design/troubleshooting.

o Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.


Degree type: Electrical or Computer Engineering.

o Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.

o Experience creating wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) documents.

o Strong understanding of cable construction, materials, and performance characteristics (e.g., voltage rating, current carrying capacity, shielding).

o Proficiency with CAD/ECAD tools for cable design.

o Ability to perform cable sizing, voltage drop, and ampacity calculations using analytical methods or software.

o Experience managing design revisions, change orders, and interfacing with cross functional teams.

o Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.

o Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities.

o Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.

o Comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware and embedded operating systems.

o Experience with system redundancy and associated safety analysis.

o Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, signal analyzers, multimeters)

Flight Test experience.

o Experience with global supply chain and supplier management.

o Experience in requirements development and requirements verification testing.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline is required.

School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:

9/80 work schedule. This position will serve on-site at El Segundo, CA.

Hourly pay rate is: $111.36
