Location: Elland, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
\nSalary Range: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)
Job Overview\nWe are looking for a motivated Accountant to join our growing finance team in Elland. The role is ideal for an AAT-qualified professional with at least two years of post-qualification experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will work on a variety of client accounts, support senior staff, and develop your own client relationships.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Prepare and process quarterly and annual accounts for small- to medium-size clients. \n
- Maintain ledgers, reconcile bank statements, and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded. \n
- Assist with VAT returns, PAYE submissions and other statutory filings. \n
- Support senior accountants with audit preparation and client meetings. \n
- Provide day-to-day advice to clients on bookkeeping, tax compliance, and financial reporting. \n
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and help implement efficient accounting solutions. \n
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and data protection regulations. \n

- AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent). \n
- Professional membership with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or willingness to obtain it. \n
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and strong Excel skills. \n
- Solid understanding of UK tax legislation, VAT, and payroll basics. \n
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail. \n
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities. \n

- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar accounting role after completing AAT qualification. \n
- Experience handling a portfolio of small- to medium-size clients. \n
- Exposure to client liaison and the ability to build professional relationships. \n
- Experience with year-end accounts and statutory reporting is advantageous. \n
- Motivation to develop further skills and progress toward senior accounting responsibilities. \n

- Annual salary between £35,000 and £45,000, dependent on experience and client-contact responsibilities. \n
