Robert Half are partnering with a fast-growing events business operating across the UK and Europe. With major clients, cutting-edge technology and an outstanding sector reputation, the leadership team is now seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function.

With a base near Lichfield, this Financial Controller role combines multi-site leadership with international exposure.

This is a role for someone who wants ownership, influence, and the chance to shape a finance function as the business continues to scale.

  • Finance Ownership - Responsibility for the finance function, reporting directly to the MD and shareholders.
  • \n
  • Team Leadership - Oversee a longstanding team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • \n
  • Cashflow Management - Tight control and forecasting in a capital-intensive, equipment-heavy business.
  • \n
  • Reporting - statutory reporting, produce timely management accounts, and maintain robust financial records.
  • \n
  • Margin & Overhead Review - Analyse performance, challenge assumptions, and drive profitability.
  • \n
  • Balance Sheet Integrity - Perform and review reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • \n
  • International Liaison - Plan future European finance needs.
  • \n
  • Budgeting & Financial Planning - Build budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • \n
  • Insurance & Contract Negotiation - Lead renewals and negotiate commercial terms.
  • \n
  • Systems & Process Improvement - Review systems, prepare for a software upgrade, modernise processes.
  • \n
  • Funding Provider Management - Maintain strong relationships and negotiate effectively with lenders.
  • \n
Candidate Profile:\n
    \n
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • \n
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller in an SME.
  • \n
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage Line 50.
  • \n
  • Experience managing payroll and HR processes.
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • \n
  • Confident communicator, comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • \n
