Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the month-end close process and produce monthly management accounts.
  • \n
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, revenue recognition, accruals, and prepayments.
  • \n
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • \n
  • Oversee invoicing, work-in-progress reviews, and project finance controls.
  • \n
  • Monitor cash flow, supplier payments, and credit control activities.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, payroll, pension, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • \n
  • Support audit processes and maintain strong internal controls.
  • \n
  • Drive finance system enhancements and continuous process improvements.
  • \n
  • Manage and develop a small finance team while partnering with operational stakeholders across the business.
  • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

    \n
  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • \n
  • Previous experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager position.
  • \n
  • Strong financial reporting and month-end management experience.
  • \n
  • Experience within professional services, consultancy, or project-based organisations.
  • \n
  • A proven track record of improving processes and financial controls.
  • \n
  • Experience managing or mentoring finance team members.
  • \n
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • \n
  • Desirable: Experience with ERP systems,
  • \n
  • Exposure to employee-owned, consultancies or professional services businesses.
  • \n
