We're working exclusively with a leading global professional services business to recruit an Assistant Accountant into their growing Manchester-based finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified ACCA or CIMA student who wants to broaden their technical accounting experience while receiving full support towards qualification.

You'll gain exposure to international operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit processes and month-end accounting, all within a highly supportive environment where development and progression are genuinely encouraged.

The Opportunity

Reporting into a senior finance team, you'll play an integral role in supporting the financial accounting and reporting activities of multiple entities across Europe and the Middle East.

This position offers excellent exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities, making it ideal for someone looking to strengthen their technical expertise and accelerate their career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with month-end close activities, including journal preparation and posting
\n
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
\n
• Managing fee reconciliations and supporting intercompany accounting activities
\n
• Supporting statutory accounts preparation and external audit requirements
\n
• Producing reporting packs for overseas entities and external accountants
\n
• Assisting with VAT returns and other regulatory filings
\n
• Working closely with teams across Accounts Payable, Billing, Treasury and Tax
\n
• Supporting financial reporting, process improvement initiatives and project work
\n
• Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring data accuracy across reporting processes
\n

About You

We're interested in speaking with candidates who have:

\n
• Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA status and are actively studying
\n
• A minimum of 3 years' experience within a finance or accounting environment
\n
• Experience supporting month-end accounting processes
\n
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation skills
\n
• Exposure to financial reporting, statutory accounts or audit activities
\n
• VAT knowledge and experience supporting submissions
\n
• Good Excel skills and experience using ERP systems
\n
• A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
\n
• The ability to build effective working relationships across finance and non-finance teams
\n
