Engineering Buyer

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Halifax, who are looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Buyer to strengthen their procurement team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded buyer to join a growing business where you'll play a key role in ensuring materials and components are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and delivered on time to support production.

Reporting into the Procurement Manager, you'll be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating competitive pricing, and ensuring the smooth supply of engineering materials and components across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Procuring engineering materials, components and subcontract services.
\n
• Raising and managing purchase orders through the ERP/MRP system.
\n
• Negotiating prices, lead times and commercial agreements with suppliers.
\n
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships to drive performance.
\n
• Monitoring supplier delivery, quality and cost metrics.
\n
• Working closely with Production, Engineering and Planning teams to ensure material availability.
\n
• Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and continuous improvement.
\n
• Resolving supply chain issues and expediting critical orders when required.
\n
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records and supplier information.
\n

We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience in a purchasing or buying role within an engineering or manufacturing environment and are looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking organisation.

You'll ideally have:

\n
• Previous experience as a Buyer, Engineering Buyer, Purchasing Officer or Procurement Coordinator.
\n
• Experience purchasing engineering materials, fabricated, machined or mechanical components.
\n
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
\n
• Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
\n
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
\n
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
\n
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
\n

A CIPS qualification (or working towards one) would be advantageous but is not essential.
