Location: Wembley (Hybrid Working) Employer: Local Authority Contract: Ongoing Temporary Role (Immediate Start) Pay Rate: £21.41 per hour (PAYE) / £28.19 per hour (Umbrella)

About the Role

\n

London Council is seeking an experienced Rent Accounting & Finance Officer to join their housing finance team on an ongoing temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing service supporting residents and ensuring accurate rent accounting across mixed tenure housing stock.

\n

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement and requires someone who can hit the ground running, delivering accurate financial administration and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Administer rent accounting processes with efficiency and accuracy, including:\n
      \n
    • Raising invoices
    • \n
    • Producing and dispatching energy bills
    • \n
  • \n
  • Manage and update rent accounts for mixed tenure housing stock
  • \n
  • Process rent debit changes, including:\n
      \n
    • Annual rent increases/decreases
    • \n
    • Service charge adjustments
    • \n
    • Water rate charges
    • \n
  • \n
  • Maintain and update the Housing Management System, including:\n
      \n
    • Lettings, voids, and tenancy amendments
    • \n
    • Successions and mutual exchanges
    • \n
    • Debit/credit adjustments and property updates
    • \n
  • \n
  • Ensure data integrity by liaising with internal teams (e.g. Housing Operations) and external stakeholders such as Housing Benefits
  • \n
  • Provide comprehensive housing and financial administrative support to the wider housing service
  • \n

  • Promote self-service options while supporting vulnerable customers

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in rent accounting / housing finance within a local authority or housing association
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of housing management systems
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail with financial data
  • \n
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • \n
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
  • \n
