Senior Accountant

Are you an experienced practice accountant looking for greater ownership of your clients and the opportunity to progress within a growing firm?A well-established independent accountancy practice in The Wirral is looking to appoint a Senior Accountant / Client Manager, paying £35,000 - £40,000. This is a varied, client-facing role offering responsibility for an established SME portfolio, involvement in advisory work and the opportunity to support the development of junior colleagues.Senior Accountant / Client Manager Responsibilities:

• Managing a varied portfolio of SME clients, including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
\n
• Acting as the principal point of contact and building trusted, long-term client relationships.
\n
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.
\n
• Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, identifying relevant tax-planning opportunities.
\n
• Advising clients on accounting, taxation and general business matters.
\n
• Managing deadlines and workflow across your portfolio while maintaining high standards of quality.
\n
• Reviewing work completed by junior colleagues and providing practical guidance, mentoring and support.
\n
• Working closely with the firm's senior leadership team on advisory assignments and practice-development projects.
\n

Senior Accountant / Client Manager Attributes:

\n
• ACCA or FMAAT qualified, or holding an equivalent professional qualification.
\n
• At least five years' experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
\n
• Previous experience managing your own portfolio of clients.
\n
• Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and taxation.
\n
• Confident managing client relationships and communicating with business owners.
\n
• Experience using cloud-accounting packages such as Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent or Sage.
\n
• Knowledge of TaxCalc would be beneficial but is not essential.
\n
• Comfortable reviewing work and supporting the development of junior team members.
\n
• Proactive, commercially aware and able to manage competing deadlines effectively.
\n
