Our client is a well-established and highly respected organisation with a long-standing reputation for excellence. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager to lead their payroll function and manage a small, dedicated team.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys a hands-on role while leading and developing others. You'll be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of high-volume fortnightly and monthly payrolls, maintaining compliance with payroll legislation, and driving continuous improvement across the department.

Duties and responsibilities\n

Reporting to senior management, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the end-to-end processing of high-volume fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
  • \n
  • Leading, supervising and supporting a small payroll team, ensuring workloads are effectively delegated and deadlines are consistently achieved.
  • \n
  • Ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time and in line with current HMRC legislation.
  • \n
  • Reviewing payroll calculations, statutory payments, deductions and final payroll submissions.
  • \n
  • Managing pension auto-enrolment, payroll reconciliations and year-end payroll activities.
  • \n
  • Resolving complex payroll queries and providing expert payroll advice to employees and managers.
  • \n
  • Producing payroll reports and supporting the wider Finance and HR teams.
  • \n
  • Reviewing and improving payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • \n
  • Maintaining payroll records securely and ensuring strict confidentiality at all times.

Experience and qualifications\n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

\n
    \n
  • Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll within a high-volume environment.
  • \n
  • Experience processing both fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
  • \n
  • Essential: Previous team management or supervisory experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a small payroll team.
  • \n
  • A thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, pensions and statutory payments.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • \n
