Position Summary

\n

The Piping Superintendent will oversee all field piping operations on a heavy industrial construction site, ensuring safe, on-schedule, and quality-compliant installation of process, utility, and mechanical piping systems. This is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for direct supervision of craft labor,subcontractors, and daily construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise all piping crews (fitters, welders, pipefitters, laborers) on site, including scheduling, work assignments, and productivity tracking
  • \n
  • Ensure all piping installation complies with project specifications, isometrics, P&IDs, and applicable codes (ASME B31.1/B31.3, etc.)
  • \n
  • Coordinate daily with the Project Manager, other trade superintendents, and client construction/owner representatives
  • \n
  • Enforce site safety programs and maintain a zero-incident culture; lead toolbox talks and safety audits
  • \n
  • Monitor quality control, weld inspection coordination, and NDE/testing signoffs
  • \n
  • Track manpower, productivity, and progress against the project schedule; report variances and recovery plans
  • \n
  • Manage material readiness — verify pipe, spools, and fittings are staged and available to support the work plan
  • \n
  • Support constructability reviews and field-level problem solving
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, and progress documentation
  • \n

Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • 7+ years of piping construction experience in heavy industrial settings (steel, chemical, refining, power, or similar)
  • \n
  • 3+ years in a Superintendent or lead foreman role
  • \n
  • Strong working knowledge of piping codes, welding processes, and industrial construction methods
  • \n
  • Strong safety leadership background (OSHA 30 required)
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret isometrics, P&IDs, and piping specifications
  • \n
  • Work on-site full time, including extended hours as project demands require
  • \n
  • Knowledge and application of 3D modelling
  • \n
