Surgery - Surgical Director, Kidney Transplant Program

Position Overview

Our organization, in collaboration with a prominent medical institution, is on the lookout for an outstanding transplant surgeon to take on the role of Surgical Director of the Kidney Transplant Program within the Department of Surgery. The ideal candidate will be a distinguished leader with a proven track record in clinical care, education, and academic research related to kidney transplantation.

About the Kidney Transplant Program

The Kidney Transplant Program is a vital part of our abdominal transplant services, encompassing:

• Living and deceased donor kidney transplants
• Robotic kidney transplantation
• Pancreas transplantation
• Participation in the National Kidney Registry

This program also collaborates with an affiliated VA kidney transplant program, providing living donor services to veteran patients. The selected individual will be dedicated to fostering the growth, quality, and innovation of the kidney transplant program, with prior leadership experience being highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

The Surgical Director will be responsible for:

• Leading and overseeing all surgical components of kidney transplantation
• Managing clinical operations and educational initiatives
• Implementing quality improvement measures and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Collaborating with departmental and service line leadership on strategic planning
• Mentoring faculty and promoting clinical excellence
• Preparing for reviews by CMS, OPTN, and UNOS

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Completion of an ASTS-approved fellowship or equivalent training
• Board eligible or Board certified by the American Board of Surgery
• Eligibility for licensure in the State of Illinois at the time of hire
• Compliance with UNOS/OPTN primary surgeon qualifications

The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with a salary that reflects their experience.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes:

• Starting salary ranging from $159,000 to $985,945
• Compensation based on academic rank and experience
