Job Description
Our organization, a physician-led multispecialty group with over 650 providers, is actively seeking a Full-Time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our dedicated team of 3 Neonatologists and 6 NNPs in the Boise metropolitan area.
Our 32-bed, Level III NICU in Boise delivers exceptional care to more than 250 infants each year, utilizing advanced techniques such as conventional ventilation, iNO, HFOV, and jet ventilation for very early preterm, late preterm, and term infants. This NICU caters to families from Boise and surrounding regions in Idaho and eastern Oregon, ensuring that expert neonatal care is accessible close to home. The Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center sees over 1,400 deliveries annually and is supported by a highly skilled labor and delivery nursing staff, an OB Hospitalist service, and 24-hour anesthesia coverage. Our safety-focused team of OB/GYNs collaborates with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.
Our 4-bed, Level II NICU in Nampa (located 15 miles west of Boise) is clinically integrated with the Birkeland Maternity Center, which has an annual delivery rate exceeding 1,300 babies. This small NICU currently provides high-quality care for newborns over 34 weeks gestation and weighing more than 1500 grams, with plans to expand to an 18-bed unit by 2028.
Dedicated to practicing the latest evidence-based medicine, our NICU teams adopt a family-centered approach that encourages collaboration between parents and our expert staff in both the Boise and Nampa units, striving for outcomes that surpass national standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend high-risk deliveries and facilitate admissions to the NICU.
Co-manage NICU patients alongside the attending Neonatologist and oversee well newborn nursery patients as needed.
Engage in multidisciplinary rounds with the Neonatologist in the NICU, providing active management strategies that may include nutritional adjustments, ventilator management, lab and radiology reviews, and family updates.
Staffing Model/Schedule:
Level 3, Boise: 16-hour shifts with in-house NNP coverage from 4 PM to 8 AM.
Level 2, Nampa: 24-hour shifts with a minimum of 4 hours on-site, with the remainder on-call, including well newborn coverage.
A full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) requires 10 shifts per month (120 annually).
Ideal Candidate:
Graduated from a Nurse Practitioner program with current RN and APRN licensure; national board certification as an NNP is preferred OR
Graduated from a Nurse Practitioner program with a neonatal fellowship/residency (or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level III/IV NICU) and holds current NP licensure.
Possesses current DEA and controlled substance Idaho medical licensure, along with privileges at SARMC - Boise and SAMC - Nampa.
