Job Description
Our organization operates in two locations:
- Albany: 315 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208
- Troy: 2215 Burdett Ave, Troy, NY 12180
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; closed on weekends.
Compensation Package- Annual Salary: $550,000 - $600,000 for the first two years, transitioning to $650,000 for years three to five.
- Productivity Model: WRVU-based compensation.

Our organization is affiliated with a leading cancer center, enhancing our capabilities in providing exceptional care.
Physicians within the hematology/oncology program will be employed by our practice.
- Physicians typically see 15-18 patients per day, with the option to increase this volume if desired.
- Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) manage around 10-12 patients daily.
- No patient responsibilities during hospital rounds.
- Average Daily Hospital Census: 20-30 patients.
- Office schedules and call responsibilities are designed to be manageable and equitable.
- Albany Clinic: Average of 5,080 patients per day; daily infusion visits average 3,038.
- Troy Clinic: Average of 40 patients per day; daily infusion visits range from 15-20.
Our team, including nurses, APPs, and physicians, administers various treatments:
- Antineoplastic agents are given by nurses, APPs, and MDs.
- Intrathecal, intralesion, and intracavity procedures are performed by MDs and APPs.
- Bone marrow and fine-needle aspiration biopsies are primarily conducted by Interventional Radiology.
- Nurses manage vascular access devices (VADs).
- Intrapleural therapies are provided in inpatient settings.
We are actively pursuing clinical trials in collaboration with our affiliated cancer center.
The oncology service line consists of approximately 80% oncology and 20% benign hematology, moving towards a 1:1 MD to APP model.
Patient DemographicsOur patient population encompasses a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, with ages spanning from geriatric to young adult (no pediatrics). We see high volumes of:
- Pancreatic, breast, colon, and urology cases.
- Lower volumes of melanoma and renal cases.
Physicians have access to various specialties within our system, including Thoracic, GI, Head & Neck, and GU. The GI group operates privately but collaborates effectively with our oncology service line.
Currently, our oncology service line does not manage acute leukemias or have a Bone Marrow Transplant/Transplant program.
Dedicated APPs are assigned for both inpatient and outpatient services.
Support StaffOur nursing team achieved Magnet designation in 2022, ensuring high-quality care:
- Each physician is paired with a Primary Nurse for triage and paperwork management.
- Dedicated nurses are assigned to both the Albany and Troy clinics for patient management.
- We have four full-time pharmacists available to assist with chemotherapy-related inquiries.
- Current call schedule is 1:5 for inpatient consults.
- Future goal is to achieve a 1:7 schedule.
- Hospitalists handle patient admissions, while dedicated inpatient APPs manage ongoing care.
- After-hours call responsibility occurs Monday to Thursday every five weeks.
- Weekend call responsibility is scheduled for Friday to Sunday every five weeks.
We utilize the EPIC electronic medical record system and participate in tumor boards for GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, and General oncology. Additionally, there is virtual access to specialized tumor boards at our affiliated cancer center.
QualificationsWe seek a physician who:
- Holds Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology and Hematology, or is actively pursuing this certification.
