Job Description
Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician Opportunity

We are excited to announce an opening for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to join our dedicated and mission-oriented team at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC) in Phoenix, Arizona. Our organization is a nonprofit medical group comprising over 450 healthcare providers across more than 25 specialties, serving the greater Phoenix area.

Position Overview

This role emphasizes a consultation-focused MFM practice, allowing physicians to deliver specialized, high-quality care without the responsibilities of delivery. The primary focus will be on high-risk obstetric consultations, advanced ultrasound techniques, prenatal diagnostics, and collaborative care. Our practice is designed to promote both clinical excellence and a healthy work-life balance.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide care for a diverse and medically complex patient population at VHMC, the safety-net hospital for Maricopa County.
  • Engage in both clinic and hospital settings, participating in shared home call coverage for VHMC and the Arizona Perinatal Program.
  • Deliver comprehensive high-risk obstetric services, including ultrasound, diagnostic testing, genetic counseling, and diabetes education.
Teaching and Mentorship

This position offers significant opportunities for teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians through academic involvement. MFM physicians will serve as core faculty for the Creighton University integrated OB/GYN Residency and MFM Fellowship, hosted at VHMC and St. Joseph’s Hospital/Dignity Health. The program accommodates 32 residents and one MFM fellow annually, fostering a vibrant learning atmosphere.

Academic Affiliations

Our practice is further enhanced by academic partnerships with institutions such as Creighton University, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Arizona State University. Physicians have the chance to achieve academic ranks and educate medical students from these institutions. We encourage participation in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and scholarly activities, with numerous opportunities in areas like healthcare disparities and federally funded research initiatives.

Work Environment and Culture

Our organization prides itself on an exceptional work culture characterized by collegiality, collaboration, and a shared dedication to serving underserved communities. Physicians are supported in their professional development while engaging in meaningful work that positively impacts maternal and fetal health outcomes.

Living in Phoenix

Residing in Phoenix offers an excellent quality of life, featuring over 300 days of sunshine annually, a vibrant cultural and culinary scene, and easy access to outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and weekend getaways to stunning locations like Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Phoenix combines the conveniences of a major city with a friendly and livable atmosphere, making it an ideal place to establish both a career and a home.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Board certification or eligibility in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Eligibility for Arizona medical licensure
  • A strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and collaborative care
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, which includes:

  • Generous paid time off
  • CME allowance with dedicated time for continuing education
  • Employer-paid malpractice insurance

Join us in a practice that integrates clinical excellence, academic involvement, and purpose-driven care in one of the most desirable and rapidly growing cities in the nation.
