Mechanical Inspector - Defence ManufacturingBolton | Up to £30.38/hr Umbrella | Long-Term Contract | Potential Permanent OpportunityOur client, a leading UK defence engineering and manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join their Product Certification Team at their Bolton manufacturing facility.This position plays a critical role in ensuring mechanical products and assemblies meet the highest quality standards before release. You will work within a highly regulated production environment carrying out inspection, certification and quality assurance activities on complex engineering products.This opportunity is well suited to experienced Mechanical Inspectors, Quality Inspectors, Manufacturing Inspectors, Engineering Inspectors, Mechanical Fitters or Assembly Technicians with inspection and sign-off experience.Key ResponsibilitiesInspect mechanical assemblies and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering requirements.Certify products in accordance with established certification procedures.Conduct visual and dimensional inspections.Check assemblies for workmanship, defects, damage and surface deterioration.Complete manufacturing documentation and quality records.Produce defect reports and support non-conformance investigations.Maintain inspection history records and certification documentation.Segregate and control non-conforming products.Use specialist inspection tools and equipment.Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.Ensure compliance with all manufacturing and quality procedures.Maintain high housekeeping and workmanship standards.Essential RequirementsQualificationsApplicants must hold one of the following:Advanced Apprenticeship or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related disciplineORLevel 3 Engineering qualification (ONC, Diploma or equivalent)ANDLevel 3 vocational qualification (NVQ or equivalent where applicable)ExperiencePrevious mechanical inspection experienceExperience inspecting and approving the work of othersManufacturing or engineering experience within a quality-driven environmentAbility to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentationStrong attention to detail and quality standardsSeveral years' experience working as a skilled engineering professionalDesirable SkillsIPC 610 certificationAerospace, Defence, Automotive or Rail industry experienceContinuous improvement awarenessRoot cause investigation experienceWhat's On Offer?£21.63 - £22.63 per hour PAYE£29.02 - £30.38 per hour Umbrella37-hour working weekLong-term contract opportunityPotential contract extensionsWork on advanced defence manufacturing programmesModern manufacturing facilityOnsite canteenShower facilitiesBike storageExcellent motorway accessWhat happens now?Upon submission of your application, should it meet our selection criteria, you will be contacted via e-mail by one of our talent acquisition specialists to arrange a screening call.
