Our client is an established and growing business with a strong reputation in its sector. They are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. THE ROLE

\n


\n

The Assistant Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the finance department, supporting financial reporting, transactional processing, and stakeholder management across the business.

\n

Responsibilities will include:

\n


\n
    \n
  • Processing supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • \n
  • Raising and processing customer invoices.
  • \n
  • Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • \n
  • Preparing and updating financial reports, including aged debtors, aged creditors and cashflow reports.
  • \n
  • Working closely with operational teams to ensure customer and supplier billing is accurate and completed on time.
  • \n
  • Managing finance-related queries from customers and suppliers and building strong working relationships.
  • \n
  • Assisting with credit control activities and debtor management.
  • \n
  • Supporting month-end processes and reconciliations.
  • \n
  • Maintaining organised finance records and filing systems.
  • \n
  • Providing administrative support to the wider finance team.
  • \n
  • Assisting with process improvements and strengthening financial controls.
  • \n

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

\n


\n
    \n
  • Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
  • \n
  • Experience using Sage accounting software.
  • \n
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence managing financial data.
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • \n
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
  • \n
\n

Desirable:

    \n
  • AAT qualified or working towards an accounting qualification.
  • \n
  • Previous credit control experience.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting month-end accounting processes.
  • \n
  • Background within a fast-paced or project-led environment.
  • \n
\n
