Principal Designer (CDM)Salary: £60,000Location: ChislehurstMonday-Friday 8-5 Hour lunch, no hybrid workingCompany vehicle & fuel cardFortus Recruitment provides specialist recruitment services, supplying quality candidates on a temporary or permanent basis to leading organisations throughout the industry.We supply candidates from executive to operative level, and are currently working with a contractor who are looking for a Principal Desinger.Duties:Act as Principal Designer on appointed projects in line with CDM 2015 regulationsPlan, manage and monitor health & safety during the pre-construction phaseCoordinate designers and duty holders to ensure effective design risk managementSupport clients in understanding and fulfilling their CDM responsibilitiesReview surveys, drawings, and specifications to identify risks and information gapsLead design risk reviews and maintain risk registers and trackersEnsure clear communication of residual risks and design assumptionsLiaise with project teams acting as Principal ContractorPrepare and maintain Health & Safety Files for project completionAttend design, pre-start, and project meetings to provide CDM guidanceChallenge unsafe design practices and escalate where necessaryContribute to continuous improvement of CDM systems and processesEssential qualification & skills:Experience in design coordination and design risk managementStrong understanding of CDM 2015 and pre-construction requirementsBackground in construction, architecture, engineering, or surveyingExperience working on refurbishment or complex construction projectsHNC / HND / Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant disciplineCDM / construction health & safety trainingCSCS card (where required)Drivers licenceDesirable skills:NEBOSH Construction or similarMembership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH, APS)Benefits:Salary: £60,000Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (1hr for lunch)Holidays: 21 days of holiday + bank holidays + birthday day off.
