Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated team player to join our Operational Support team as a Support Assistant to provide administrative and financial support to a number of Council Services
\nApplicants must have excellent organisational and communication skills, be customer focused and be willing to embrace new challenges.
\nAs part of the wider team, you will undertake activities which assist and support several business functions including:
\nProcessing and monitoring workflows relating to mobile phone requests for internal colleagues, ordering mobile phones, accessories and related equipment. You will also coordinate the allocation of mobile devices and arrange appointments with colleagues to issue devices.
\nInvoice scanning for all council invoices ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently in accordance with the financial procedures.
\nManaging mailboxes, database management and responding to emails and telephone calls.
\nApplicants must have excellent organisational and communication skills.
\nTasks can change depending on demands of the services we support.
\nAll of this work will require you to work to tight deadlines.
\nKNOWLEDGE
\nEvidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or above to include Mathematics and English or equivalent is essential. (SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative). Some practical experience or demonstration of competency in the use of word processing and standard PC software packages is also essential.
\nDemonstrable competency in keyboard and clerical skills are also required; SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
\nExperience in a similar office environment, with a working knowledge of modern office equipment is desirable.

\nPlease note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
\nBased on 18 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £13,928.93 per annum.
Requirements\nCompliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this Disclosure check will be met by you.
\nPlease note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. Once you have viewed your certificate you will be allowed to share this with your employer and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you have viewed the certificate. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council to view before access is removed, a further application will need to be generated, and this will incur an additional cost.
