Job Overview
The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Shipping & Receiving department while supervising assigned personnel. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and efficient receipt, storage, packaging, and shipment of materials and finished products. The supervisor will support production operations by safely operating material handling equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records within the Epicor ERP system, and ensuring compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Shipping & Receiving department.
- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to transport materials and finished products throughout the facility.
- Perform all Shipping & Receiving transactions and inventory activities within the Epicor ERP system.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, including quantities, part numbers, certifications, and shipping documentation.
- Package materials and products to ensure safe and secure transportation while meeting customer specifications.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, carriers, and customers through email, phone, and in person.
- Ensure accurate part identification, labeling, Certificates of Conformance (COCs), packing slips, and other shipping documentation.
- Assist production operations with material movement and logistics as needed.
- Support inventory accuracy through proper material handling and documentation.
- Work overtime as required to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of Shipping & Receiving and production support.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Shipping & Receiving, warehouse operations, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Forklift operation experience required (certification preferred or ability to obtain certification).
- Experience operating an overhead crane preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Epicor, and general computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while leading a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work overtime as business needs require.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, move, and transport materials in accordance with company safety guidelines.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
