Asset Tracking Specialist
Job Description
The Asset Tracking Specialist I supports the accurate tracking, inventory management, and lifecycle administration of IT hardware across the organization. This role ensures technology assets are properly recorded, maintained, deployed, and in alignment with established asset management processes. The position is ideal for individuals interested in IT Operations, Asset Management, or Technology Services.
Core Responsibilities- Inventory Management — Track and maintain records for laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, peripherals, and other technology assets.
- Asset Intake — Receive, tag, and document newly acquired equipment.
- Physical Audits — Perform inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Lifecycle Updates — Maintain asset records throughout deployment, transfer, repair, replacement, and retirement.
- Onboarding/Offboarding Support — Coordinate equipment assignments and returns for employee transitions.
- Cross‑Team Collaboration — Work with Desktop Support and IT Operations to ensure asset data accuracy.
- Reporting — Produce inventory, compliance, and audit reports as needed.
- Logistics Support — Assist with equipment shipping, receiving, storage, and recovery.
- Documentation — Maintain process documentation and follow established asset management controls.
- Issue Escalation — Escalate discrepancies or process gaps to leadership.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 0–2 years of experience in inventory management, IT support, logistics, or asset management.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Office applications.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds.
- Exposure to IT Asset Management practices.
- Experience with inventory tracking systems or ticketing platforms.
- Familiarity with IT hardware and peripheral devices.
- Experience supporting inventory audits.
- Exposure to platforms such as ServiceNow Asset Management, CMDB, Asset Panda, Jira, SharePoint
This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
