Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. \nNew Graduate RN Residency Program
\nNew graduate nurses at Mercy Hospital South are supported through our comprehensive RN Residency Program, designed to help you transition from student to practicing nurse with confidence.
\nThis 8–16 week hands-on clinical training experience provides structured support while you develop practical skills and build clinical confidence.
\nOur residency program includes:
\nHands-on clinical training on your unit with experienced nurse mentors
\nOne-on-one mentoring and preceptor support
\nClassroom learning and structured training sessions focused on key nursing skills and patient care scenarios
\nLeadership guidance and coaching from nurse educators and unit leaders
\nA supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged and growth is prioritized
\nThis program helps new nurses build clinical confidence, critical thinking skills, and strong patient care foundations while becoming part of a supportive team.

\nQualifications
\nEducation
\nGraduate of an accredited nursing program with one of the following:
\n• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
\n• Nursing Diploma
\n• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
\nLicensure
\nActive Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state eligibility
\nCertifications
\nBasic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
\nExperience
\nNew graduates strongly encouraged to apply
\nPrevious hospital experience helpful but not required.
\nPreferred Qualifications
\n• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
\n• Specialty certifications
\n• Acute care or clinical experience
\nPhysical Requirements
\n• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
\n• Frequent standing and walking throughout shifts
\n• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
